This week, Lincoln Center has been filled with tons Fashion and Beauty. With New York Fashion Week in full swing, I can’t help but think of ways to incorporate these trends into the current season’s style. No matter if you’re a high-fashion lover or just simply love trying new things, you can use street style, runways and backstage beauty as inspiration for creating your own looks. No matter what season it is you always room to try new things to fit your own personal style. Here are a few trends that I am currently loving from the SS15 runways shows which, which can be incorporated in this fall’s current beauty and fashion trends.
The ”No Makeup” Makeup Look
The whole “no make-up“, make-up trend has seriously upped its game; from a flawless complexion to a real glowing offering, the future’s looking bright for next season’s skin. This look honestly can be worn all year round. There isn’t anything more striking and refreshing than dewy (dampened) beautiful skin. Who doesn’t want to be seen sporting a fresh face?
(Nars) Lead Makeup Artist Diane Kendal stated the look as, “Strong and energetic… the look is clean with moisturized skin paired with accentuated highlighting and contouring to bring out the strength of the girl’s features.” shown at Alexander Wang SS15 NYFW runaway show.
Makeup artist, Pep Gay, for Mac Cosmetics describes his inspiration for the makeup look: ” We wanted the girls to feel like queen of the Adriatic”. The makeup reflected that by looking clean and simple yet polished and elegant.
To achieve these minimal “no makeup” makeup looks, you will need a just a few products listed below.
- Light Foundation- (Face and Body or BB Cream), depending on the your skin type some of you may need more coverage than others. Conceal any blemishes before applying your foundation or bb cream using a light hand. (dont forget to moisturize and prime skin before foundation application).
- Concealer- Concealing helps brighten up under the center of the face and attracts light giving you the appearance of looking more awake.
- Setting Powder- use a translucent powder in the center of the face to keep your foundation and concealer in place to ensure it last all day.
- LipGloss- Top off the look with a lip glass or tinted lip balm a sheer pink would be suitable. Be sure to match the shade closest to your skin tone.
Low Pony Tail
Slick laid back pony tails is all the rage all over NYC this season. The low ponies were spotted at Alexander Wang, Thakoon and Prabal Gurung runways shows and were some of the chicest hairstyles we’ve seen. This look is very stylish and simplistic, yet quite easy to achieve. The low pony tail can be worn in many different ways to compliment your wardrobe. If your looking for a hairstyle that you can either dress up or dress down this is definitely the look.

To achieve the slicked back “low pony tail” depending on your hair texture a mousse or pomade would applied to the hair, brushed back and secured with a ponytail holder (be sure to make sure your edges are laying flat). This next step is optional if you going for a polished low pony tail grab a small amount of hair and wrap it around the ponytail holder (as seen in pic #3 above) and secure with a bobby pin and voila there you have achieved a perfect effortless quick and easy hairstyle.
The White Blazer
Who says you cant wear white after labor day? In my opinion fashion rules are meant to be broken. Public School’s Designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne have created a clothing of over sized androgynous look for women and a key piece that stood out to me which was quite simple, was the “White Blazer”, which can be worn for both fall and spring/summer. This is a key piece that must be incorporated in your fall wardrobe , it can be worn so many ways. For Fall this can be worn with leather pants and a basic top for a sophisticated edge or even with a printed dress (colors) optional. Although I personally would prefer black but this just gives an idea of different ways to play up your look.
Here is the the “white blazer” with a loose top and a wide legged trousers for a more casual look as seen on the Public School’s SS15 runway show .
